OnePlus 5: A Flagship Killer for $479?

June 24th, 2017 | by Z. Gonzales

So OnePlus has just released its newest phone – the OnePlus 5, and just like the ones before it, this one doesn’t claim it’s a flasghip killer. It seems OnePlus has finally gotten over that marketing stint to focus on making a solid phone. The 3T from last year received a lot of positive reviews thanks to a combination of good design, decent specs and great price.

This year’s model follows the same formula. The phone still looks good and its specs are comparable to other phones that are double its price. These include the latest Qualcomm chip, up to 6GB of RAM and a dual camera setup.

Now, in the looks department, it does look a lot like the iPhone 7 especially with the placement of its camera module and the home button, and pretty much all the major buttons and ports. While that may persuade others that the OnePlus 5 is a mere knock off of the iPhone, the other side of the coin is that you’ll be getting a similarly good-looking device for a fraction of the price.
