Huawei: From Smartphone to Laptop

MateBook X, MateBook E and the MateBook D

In case you haven’t heard Huawei is expanding its portfolio from smartphones and communications equipment to now include laptops – Windows laptops. The company has recently unveiled a trio of devices to add to its MateBook line.

MateBook X Cover

Surprisingly enough, Huawei’s first foray into the laptop space looks legit. For instance, the MateBook X is a 13-inch fan-less notebook with an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor that’s meant to compete with models like the Apple MacBook or Dell’s XPS laptops.

There’s also the MateBook E which competes in the 2-in-1 market with its detachable keyboard and a Microsoft Surface-ish kickstand. The device can be configured in a variety of processors from a fan-less Core m3 to a proper Core i5 chip.

Lastly, there’s the MateBook D, which goes against heavy-hitters from other brands like the MacBook Pro and the XPS 15 from Dell. The MateBook D can be configured with 7th gen Intel Core processors, optional NVidia GeForce 940MX graphics and Dolby Atmos system.

Pricing for the three models are as follows and will go on sale sometime in Q3 of this year.
