HTC U11: Is It Enough to Save HTC?

May 17th, 2017 | by Z. Gonzales

So HTC has released a new flagship model to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6. The newest model called the U11 kind of looks a lot like the HTC U Ultra that was released a few months ago with its shiny mirror-like exteriors.

However, this time, HTC has put more powerful specs, so the phone (at the very least) can stand side by side its competitors in terms of performance and power. Having said this, the new HTC U11 packs the latest and greatest in smartphone components including a much faster processor, updated GPU and tons of RAM.

The phone also comes with BoomSound Hi-Fi edition and a special software feature called Edge Sense which enables users to launch specific apps or perform certain functions by squeezing the edges of the phone. It’s quite gimmicky if you ask me, especially since there’s not a lot of apps that make use of it as of the moment.

On plain paper, the HTC U11 has all the things you’d want in a top-tier phone. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if all these improvements are enough to help the company stay relevant in the face of much larger brands in a super competitive industry.

For those who are interested with the U11, HTC plans to ship the phone next month with a retail price of around $649. You can check the rest of its specs below.
