Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer has recently released a new Connected smartwatch that seeks to bridge the gap between mechanical watches and smartwatches. Unveiled at a special event near Switzerland’s Rütli Meadow by none other than the company’s CEO Jean-Claude Biver, the Connected Modular 45’s launch was live streamed across different parts of the globe including the Philippines.

The watch is powered by an Intel Cloverdale Peak dual-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz with 4GB of onboard storage and 512MB of RAM. According to Tag Heuer, the watch’s 410mAh battery should last for up to 25 hours on a single charge.

The watch also features an assortment of radios including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. Furthermore, the Connected Modular 45 is built to withstand up to 5ATM of pressure (around 50 meters underwater).

However, the crowning glory of the Connected Modular 45 is its modular design. Just like most luxury brands, Tag Heuer has made this watch completely customizable. Users can pick from a variety of colors and materials when building their watch from its lugs, strap, and buckles.

All that comes with a hefty price tag, though. The Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 will retail starting at US$1600 and can go up to over US$3000.
