Alienware Unveils New Aurora, Alpha and Area 51 Models

Apart from its 13-inch gaming laptop, Alienware also updated several of its desktop models which include the Alpha R2 and Area 51 as well as a new model called the Aurora.

The Alienware Aurora is the company’s first desktop that provides a tool-less setup. This means that users will be able to customize the gaming rig in an easy and very convenient manner. The rig can support two 300-watt graphics cards, several storage drives and a MicroATX motherboard.

Dell Aurora 2The chassis of the Aurora sports the company’s AlienFX customizable lighting system that is also seen in its Area 51 desktop. Much like other gaming desktop models, the Aurora can be customized even before purchase. Users simply need to order the device online and pick which components they want.

The Aurora will also come with a number of ports including six USB 2.0 port, a USB Type-C and Type A ports, a gigabit Ethernet port, a couple of surround-sound ports, a line-in jack and a microphone jack.

For those looking for an additional cool factor – there’s the newly improved Area 51. This triangular-shaped gaming device can be equipped with a 10-core Intel Core i7 processor and up to 64GB of DDR4 memory.

Alienware Area 51Furthermore, the Area 51 is capable of supporting up to three graphics cards. The device has a slew of ports including a SD card reader, a couple of USB 3.0 ports, a microphone and headphone jack, Gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports , a coaxial S/PDIF connector and ports for two speakers and a subwoofer.

Lastly, there’s the Alienware Alpha R2 – the company’s second generation Steam machine. The device can be configured with a NVidia GeForce GTX 960 or an AMD Radeon R9 M470X. In terms of CPU, it can be had with an Intel Core i7-6700T with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB PCIe SSD.

Alienware Alpha R2In terms of I/O, the Alpha R2 is packing an HDMI port, HDMI 2.0 port, four USB 3.0 ports (two on the front and two on the back), one USB 2.0 port, a gigabit Ethernet port and an optical audio output.

Pricing for the Alienware Alpha R2 will start at $599.
