While most manufacturers are adopting the all-metal design for both their top-of-the-line and mid-range offerings, HTC seems to be stuck a few years in the past as it still is using plastic, at least in its midrange phones.

Desire 830Its latest creation – the Desire 830 is one such phone. On the plus side, this model retains the BoomSound front-facing speakers that the company has been known for and comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The internals are also quite capable with a MediaTek Helio X10 chipset featuring a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

There’s a 13MP camera at the back with optical image stabilization and an f/2.0 aperture lens. Just like other Desire phones before it, the Desire 830 is also using an UltraPixel variety sensor as its front-facing camera – a 4MP sensor to be more precise.

The phone will be offered in different color combinations and with a battery rated at 2800mAh. There’s no exact date yet on when the Desire 830 will become available for purchase in other markets, but it will be available in Taiwan starting this month for around $310.
