Storage giant Western Digital is continuously expanding its empire by covering as much as the market as it can. The company recently unveiled a new type of product that specifically targets business data centers.

WD’s new Gold drives were designed with small and medium enterprises in mind. The new drive will supposedly come with features that should provide a solution to the storage needs of these businesses.

WD Gold A.jpgThe company’s new Gold drives, for instance, is said to be more power-efficient up to 15 percent as they use the so-called HelioSeal technology which in itself enables up to 26 percent lower power consumption.

The new drives are also said to have improved performance over the WD Re 4TB data center drives and up to 30 percent improvement in random write performance over its predecessor.

WD Gold B.jpgWD Gold also incorporates the best-of-breed design as well as manufacturing and test processes in order to achieve one of the highest reliability ratings in the computer storage solutions market (around 2.5 million hours MTBF).

On top of these, WD is also providing a dedicated premium support which should allow WD Gold customers to reach the company’s technical support with ease.

More information about the WD Gold hard drives and terms of the limited warranty may be found on the company website at www.wd.com.
