Apple Downsizes the iPad Pro to 9.7 inches

The iPad Pro for people with smaller hands

Apple’s humongous iPad Pro is getting a smaller brother bringing the same type of performance we’ve seen from the 12.9-inch version to people with smaller hands.

The new iPad Pro is 9.7-inches in size (same as the iPad Air 2) and packs the same A9X chip with a dual-core processor as its bigger brother plus 2GB of RAM.

iPad pro with standThe display features a new True Tone display that uses a new feature that automatically adjusts the color of the screen based on the ambient light in a room. It also has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and a greater color saturation compared to the Air 2.

There are also new cameras on this iPad which is a 12MP sensor with True Tone Flash and a 5MP selfie snapper with an option for Retina flash just like in the new iPhones. On top of that, the rear camera is also cable of recording 4K and slow motion videos.

iPad ProFour speakers flank the edges of the iPad Pro, which the company says is as good as the one on the bigger model. There’s also LTE connectivity (with an embedded Apple SIM) as well as support for the Apple Pencil.

The new iPad Pro will be offered in different versions. The cheapest model (32GB – Wi-Fi only) will cost $599 while the most expensive model the 256GB version will start at $899. For $130 more, you can get cellular connectivity.
