MWC 2016: Huawei Unveils the MateBook

Huawei’s big announcement at Mobile World Congress this year wasn’t about a fancy smartphone but rather to a 2-in-1 device which could give the Microsoft Surface 4 a run for its money.

The Huawei MateBook has a 12-inch display and rocks Intel’s new Core M processors. The device can be configured to have up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB SSD storage.

The 12-inch display has a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels (that’s around 216ppi) and is constructed from glass and metal. Powering the device is a 4430mAh battery which the company claims can last up to 10 hours on light to moderate use.

Huawei is marketing the MateBook as a productivity powerhouse even offering a couple of accessories including a stylus called the MatePen and a keyboard called the MateDock.

The MateDock is made from environmentally-friendly leather with backlit keys. The stylus, on the other hand features special functions that are activated when its hardware buttons are pressed.

Huawei will start selling the MateBook for $699 and can go up to $1599 for the Intel Core m7 version with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
